Our suffering is nothing in comparation of his suffering, save my little  Richard, my little darling. I can not write well because i am suffering . My heart, my Richard, my life is far, and no one is protecting you, my little baby of  two years. To die, quickly, O my child! Bring me back to my poor son Richard that he is probably suffering  bad treats of the nazi 's man .

Diary from a prisoner

August, 3rd, 1915
Dear diary:
I'm still in this Saint Gilles prison due to my opposition against the German people who conquered this my city of Brussels.
Today, something strange has happened. Like many other times, the German soldiers have come with many people who have done something against them, but, between these people, there was a very unexpected person: they brought a nurse to prison. This is very unusual because a lot of nurses are needed in hospitals to take care of the soldiers. She is in a cell next to me, so I've requested her name, and she's called Edith Cavell. When I asked her what she was doing here, Edith replied: “I saved human lives” I was very shocked by her answer, so I continued asking. “You are here because you saved human lives? How can that be possible? Isn't that what you're supposed to do?” She stayed silent for a while and then answered: “Yes, I am, but it seems like I don't when it comes to lives from people who were born in countries from the Allied forces. I personally hate wars, they're a nonsense; in my opinion, a life from a British soldier is as valuable as that from a German one. My job is to save people's lives, so that's what I do. If a German man is injured, I'll help him, if a French one is, I'll help him to.” I became interested in what she was saying, so I encouraged her to tell me her story, and that's what she narrated to me:
It was in November when Brussels fell into German hands. I was sent to a hospital where I did my best to try to save many soldiers from all the fronts. Each day, there were more people coming, and they told me how bad the German soldiers were being with them and how desperately they were trying to escape from the occupied zone, so I ended up helping them. I could save many lives for ten months until a German man saw me and reported me. I didn't deny at any moment the charges I was accused of. I admitted with dignity I had taken more than a hundred British, French, and Belgian soldiers in my house, and then helped them escape.”
I've admired her great courage and responsibility, I hope everything goes through with her.

September, 28th, 1915
Dear diary:
This morning, the German wardens have carried Edith to an isolation cell. This is because the news of a nurse's detention have reached and angered the Allied countries and other neutral ones like United States and Spain. They have demanded the application of the Geneva's Convention, which says that the sanitary personal must be protected. But the German soldiers are annoyed because of that and have carried her there so that she can't talk with anyone.

October, 12th, 1915
Dear diary:
I don't have good news for you today. Unfortunately, and despite the various mercy requests and opposition of some German senior officials, Edith has been executed today. They have buried her body next to the prison. I know she died convinced that she did what she had to do: to help the people. I will never forget her, she's a bravery symbol for me, and I'll never forget the irrational cruelty of those German people too. Let her rest in peace.

AFGHANISTAN IN WAR

Hi, I'm Mike, this time informing from Afghanistan, today, 24  December 1979 it have already passed almost a year since the people's democratic party of Afghanistan (P.D.P.A.) took the power by the force with a military coup that they have named the Saur Revolution. The riots that have no effect in the government even the uprisings of the people became a waste of time.
(1979)

A year after this events ,today, the war have officially started. The war between the Afghanistan's resistance forces and the soviets. In the side of Afghanistan resistance the United States Of America (USA) helped to defeat the soviets invasions.

But now is when I finish giving objective information and I start with my personal opinion. Probably you are asking yourselves while your are reading this horrible article about the horror of a new war and everything that it spouse. Why did the USA have enter in an other war? If you are from that country you'll probably answer "because we want to spread the freedom that we have here and to finish the war" But if you have a bit of consciousness you'll probably have answered that they want money. But, How are they going to make profit of a war in which the participate? Easy, petrol, is one of the most valuable liquids in the world and is those territories are rich in it.

And the last but no less important question that I'm going to ask a lot of times is:  Is this going to last for ever? I mean, when are the wars going to end or When is the USA going to stop killing people because of economic reasons? Probably 5, 10 , 30 years? I hope the horrors that I have seen the first day of war are not going to be repeated for ever.

THE STORY BEHIND “EL GUERNICA”

May 1937. I found myself sitting in the living room’s armchair, observing in front of me one of my masterpieces, “El Guernica”, which narrates a horrible event

Several weeks ago, as I do every day, I bought “L’Humanité” newspaper and what was my surprise when I discovered that, during the Spanish civil war and during the early afternoon of the 26th of May of 1937, a series of planes bombed Gernica intensely. For three hours and a half the city was attacked by German an Italian air forces.  The first indiscriminate bombing of civilians on European soil. The bombing was carried out under the orders of General Franco. From 7000 inhabitants, 1654 died and 889 were injured.

Horrified by this event that I had just read, I decided to accept the request of the Director General of Fine Arts, Josep Renau, at the petition of the Government of the Spanish Republic, which was to make a picture in order to attract public attention to the cause Republican in the Spanish Civil War.

One official asked Picasso after he had seen the painting:
- Have you done this?
And he replied: No, you have been.
Through my painting, I wanted to show the cruelty and destruction of war. All the characters yell, gesticulate and die under the blind bombs that everything destroy. Hopelessness is present, as well as the pain of the defenseless civil population, but also the fallen militaries in the defense and the animals, out of the human madness. They are collected in contrasting colors, black, white and gray shades to accentuate the dramatism.
I don’t want this painting to narrate the occurred events; I want it to symbolize the pain and suffering that they caused.

THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES

Today, the 28th June, 1919, in the Lounge of the Mirrors of the Palace of Versailles there has been signed the Agreement of Versailles, which has put end to the First World War. This agreement gives step to the peace. The  war began the 28th June, 1914 due to the murder in Sarajevo to the archduke Francisco Fernando, inheritor of the Austro-Hungarian throne. The Austro-Hungarian Empire declared the war to Serbia and Russia. Germany is suffering the consequences of the Agreement of Versailles, which has taken territories from it and now it has a debt of war of 33 billion dollars, it also has lost almost the whole army. On the other hand, Austria has recognized the independence of Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Hungary. Now it’s only a small country in the center of Europe. The German minister, Hermann Müller, is signing the Agreement of Versailles.
At the outside of this room, we can see lots of people, all joined together.

The principal consequences of the Agreement of Versailles are:
- Alsace and Lorraine were given to Germany in the peace agreement signed in Versailles the 26th January, 1871 and the 10th May of the same year, Frankfurt's Agreement was returned to France.
- Czechoslovakia and Poland have lost Alta Silesia's territory.
- Germany has lost Eupen and Malmedy and these, they given to Belgium.
- Western Prussia has lost Kláipeda, and has passed to form a part of France. Later, it passed to form part of Lithuania.
- Prussia also has lost Warmia and Masuria and now they are a part of Poland.

Especially, the Agreement of Versailles has restricted the number of the German army to less than 100.000 soldiers; they have prohibited the manufacture of tanks and of heavy artillery. In the German sea-coast, now only 15.000 sailors can go with only six warships, six cruises, 12 against torpedo boats and have prohibited also the manufacture of submarines. To the German mark of planes Luftwaffe they do not leave them to work.
I have seen before, in a newspaper called “The impartial one ", a letter of my friend who was suffering with me the consequences of the end of the First World War. Here you can see what he has told:

The Peace has returned to the world - A happy date in the life of the Humanity.
Yesterday, minutes after three o'clock in the afternoon, the agreement was signed in Versailles
The day with such a distress waited across of almost a period, came to the end. Yesterday he has put on the signature to the agreement of peace. Virtually, the peace remained made the day of the recognition of the armistice. Since then the humanity waited for her as an event that could be retarded, but was not altering indefinitely. The happiness of the world was not, this way and quite, it completes. Menacing clouds, pregnant with distressing omens, were muddying the great hope of the men. Promised La Paz could be late too much and have time to that the latent carbons among the embers of the fire were lifting again the ravenous bonfire. This distress has ended yesterday. From yesterday they end all the dreads, all the immediate dangers. The march of the progress, during so much time interrupted, can be resumed and can affirm perhaps the work that the yesterday event inaugurates. Eliminated the condition of abnormality that made forget the men so many things, will have come the moment of an arrested and implacable examination of conscience that maybe takes them to the deep knowledge of his mistakes, and giving the character of impossibly to the repetition of a tragedy as the one that finishes of finishing turn yesterday in the biggest and glorious of the whole human history.

Memories of first world war

Hi there, my name is Brian , i'm from USA and I fought against central empires on the first world war.
I was a 21 years old boy, with my friends and my life, when they call me in 1917 to fight on the war. My family didn't want me to go, but I had to go.
I was sent to the Belleau's forest, France, to fight against germans on 1 june 1918.
On 1 of june's afternoon the german forces opened a hole on the french's lines. As answer, the USA's reserva, like the 23rd regiment of ifantry, what I was part of, took a forced march of more of 10 km, for close the gap.
That was a the worst experience of my life, where soldiers died continiously.

Riots in L.A. 1992

Hi, I'm Mike  informing from Los Angeles, California. Today 3 of May of 1992 is the forth day of the riots. This riots were caused because some policemen inflict a beating to a black men that they were persecuting. But that wasn't the only reason, after giving the beating to the men, illegally, they were not condemned.

The riots started how I have already said the 29 of April (four days ago), there have been more than a thousand injured people and more than 35 deaths. But the data is not very precise for the moment I'm telling you this. The other night I was at the middle of the riots. The only thing that I can say about that Horrible scene is that is inexcusable that in the 90's the wars and deaths because of racism continue.

This events make me think about the XXI century that's going to came.  How long is this going to last?  Are there going to be more racist police men that abuse from their power? At least I hope in the future our minds will be more open an there won't be more beating that came from the authority or more riots or similar inner wars because of racism and abuse of power. I didn't mention policeman that murder black men because if that happen in the future it'll mean that the situation is coming even worse.

USING TURKEYS... AS PARACHUTES?!

USING TURKEYS... AS PARACHUTES?!

Yesterday, a man from the Civil Guard who escaped from a republican offensive, told me a very interesting story.
He was part of the refugiated group that stayed from August 18th of the last year, in Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza's sanctuary in Andújar, Jaén. They went there with the captain of the Civil Guard, Santiago Cortés, and the group was formed by 165 members from the "Benemérita", 44 civilians and 4 priests; all of them with their respective families that made a total amount of 1200 people. At first, they were there in a voluntary seclusion, they even went to Andújar to get supplies and receive medical assistance; but later on, they became sieged by the republican troops.
The only way of supplying themselves was aerial, because supplies came from Seville and Córdoba, but using parachutes to obtain them was impossible due to the difficulty that supposed making them fall in the little bastion of the sanctuary. As a result, they decided to use two techniques: first, descending the most they could, and going up again rapidly after having given them the provisions. And the second, the turkey technique for the most delicate and light supplies (like medicines).

This method consisted in throwing turkeys which had some provisions tied to them, in a vertical way to the bastion. With their frenetic wingbeat, that didn't allow them to fly, but to slow down the fall, they could land without breaking the load. Besides, this curious parachute could be eaten, as the man said to me laughing. So finally, thanks to this supplies they could survive 9 months... The first day of this month, the Sanctuary fell down due to the republican offensive, but he and his family could escape, and luckily, I have been able to relate you this amusing fact in his place.

CHRISTMAS TRUCE:

24th December 1914

Dear mother:

Months have passed since the last time I have seen you. How much I would like to be there with you, mostly today, 24th of December. Everything has changed, the unimaginable has occurred.

It is night, here in the trenches is really cold. However, the shooting has ceased. For the first time there is silence. Not even a whisper is heard and it seems that the fear doesn't run through my body; I feel no desire to kill. Nevertheless, deaths increase everyday as the sadness and disillusion among the soldiers.

You will be as amazed as I am after having been complicit of the events of this evening. Trenches have been abandoned, both our German side and the enemy, to celebrate all together Christmas Eve. It all started when hoping to enjoy Christmas; we decided to sing carols to which the British joined. We have exchanged cigarettes, whisky and food. And, although it seems strange, we have also taken some photos. It has been a long time since I have seen my partners joking and smiling. Weapons are out of combat, now the only blows that you receive are falls while playing football. I don’t know what will happen from now on, I just hope this truce to continue for a while, fighting has no sense.

Give regards to all, tell them I love them and wish them merry Christmas. Luckily in some months I will be back.
